Sage is not our savior

I was sick to my stomach when i heard we had the deal between us and the texans became final and that we had landed sage rosenfels to compete with T-jack. After we lost to philly in the playoffs and childress said he wanted to bring in a person to compete with jackson, i thought he was just saying that to make jackson feel like he still was in the running. And i assumed that they would bring in a real quaterback such Cassel, Garcia, Warner, or a Leftwhich to run the team next year. But turns out Chilly wasnt lying he did get a guy that would compete at the same level of Jackson, which isnt saying much.

Are you Kidding me? Sage Rosenfles? This guy isnt good enough to hold gus ferotte's jock strap. He was the backup quaterback for a medioccur team. And this is our answer to our quaterback crisis, a 31 one year old dark horse from iowa! This makes me sick. What is wrong with childress, our GM and Owner? Do they want to win games or not. This has been there problem since the glory days of Bud Grant. They take forever to fix the obvious problems. I mean any occasional vikings fan can tell you that there is two things keeping us from being a great team and its a head coach and a starting QB. It has been this way since Daunte fell of the map. But do they do anything about it? NO. And by the time that Childress is fired and we finally find a franchise QB we will have lost our running game(Peterson will eventaully want to be in a place that builds key peices around him and chester will find a starting gig) or our defensive run stoppers (the williams wall cant hold up forever) and it will take another eturnity to fix those problems.

I just dont get it. why risk next season on a guy that might be good when we could just get a guy who is already proven.

  1. Alan,  Wow. what a blog that was!  I most certainly agree that the clock is ticking on the shelf life of this current roster.  Although I believed as you did that '08 was the last stand for T-Jack.  Now that Chilly has given T-Jack a reprieve he has attached the success of his coaching tenure to T-Jack's '09 Season.  Cuz come on Purple fans, let's all be honest, Sage shouldn't be beating out T-Jack on his best day!  So, if the Vikes don't make the playoffs or get smoked in the 1st round again, T-Jack will be a sure goner and Chilly will be right behind him.  I am not sure Spielman won't be in that grouping as well.  I have confidence and appreciation for the way the Wylf brotherhood are owning.  They give the resources and then keep hands off.  They pay the current regime a lot of money to bring it, so current regime; BRING it!!!  Jared Allen, BBarrian, AP, CT, and now Percy, along with the vaunted DFense.  There are NOOOO excuses.  Alan, I am going to do my best this season to support the QB, but he will be on a very SHORT leash with me and most other Vikes fans I know.  I will continue to wear my Jerseys, however can't guarantee watching the entire length of each game, unless they give a reason for me to.  Enough said.....Thanks Alan!
