When spring training is barely 2 months out for pitchers and catchers, I think we need to take a look at what type of damage the NYY have done to the game.  From a competitive standpoint and players playing with heart versus how they should perform based on their contracts?  I don't think there is a lot of damage done.  From a standpoint of how expensive it is now going to get for baseball fans to go see a game?  I think there has been substantial damage done.  It is now impossible for a father to take his children to a pro ballpark, get good seats, maybe a souevineur or two, and something to drink and nibble on for less than $100.  Also, the extravagence of these new ballparks is also driving the cost of players up up and up.  I do think it should be noted though, that just because someone is making $250 Million over 10 years doesn't mean they are also a lock to produce.  I hate to use A-Rod as an example, but it really is the perfect one.  He is being paid collosal amounts of money for his talents, potential, and services by the NYY.  Moreso, he is being paid to bring a World Series ring back to the Bronx.  He has been there a number of years now and since his arrival, the NYY have not won the BIG one.  Another example of going after the money versus going after what a player's heart is telling them to do is CC Sabathia.  It was WELL documented that his conviction and intent was to sign with a Left Coast team.  He was being courted by the the LAA and Dodger Blue.  They were both offering 7-8 years and in the $100 million range.  The Brewers also stepped to the plate with that caliber of offer and let's face it, roster wise, they are as competitive right now as any team to make a "Series" run.  Let's be honest here; how many of us would be able to spend $100 million dollars in our lifetime as long as we don't live the life of extravagence that so many do when they run out of money.  CC went to the highest bidder, plain and simple and showed his stance of wanting to play on the Left Coast was a ploy to drive up his value to get the optimal dollar possible.  Now, if the NYY don't hit "The Series" within the 1st 3 seasons of his being there, the skeptics will return and we will revisit all this again.  I just wish the athletes would not be fake about what their really looking for.  MONEY!!     Mark Teixerea, makes me wanna throw up to be honest, rather his agent does.   These agents are all about driving up the price of how much it costs for Dad's out there to take the son or daughter to a game.  With the price of pro athletes soaring, of course the prices the clubs charge to go to watch them will soar too.  I guess we'll see how it all pans out?  Go Twins for staying business smart and still remaining competitive!  That ROCKS!

Attention all Purple Pride fans.  Today (January 4, 2009) should spell the end of an era for the starting quarterback stint for Tarvaris Jackson.  Among national media types, if Childress does not adjust his commitment to T-Jack then he could also be bringing light to a flaw in judgment when it comes to his talent finding abilities.  I really do not want to pile on a pack of critics that want Jackson's job, however he has now had 3 seasons to blossom and even #5 for the Eagles showed up by that time.  Given all the money Mr. Wilf  laid out during this past offseason, I don't think the ownership is going to have a whole lot of patience.  If there is any slack given to Brad Childress by Mr. Wilf, it also won't have a very long leash come the 2009 football season.  However, I also don't think that Purple Pride fans have any more patience for developing Jackson.  It was obvious that the boo birds were out with the stinking of the Offense to start the 2nd half.  There is also one glaring stat that should get any Purple fan to reach a state of confusion; and that is A.P. only having 6 rushing attempts in the 2nd half!  It was obvious that the D-Line was being wore down by our imposing 0-Line in the 1st half already and why get away from what is working is beyond me, but the Vikes, in my humble opinion, found that one way to LOSE again.  I am by no means calling for Brad Childress's job, however he also needs to acknowledge some accountability when it comes to how games are getting called for Offense.  On a positive note, I think it is obvious that DCoord Leslie Frazier, if anything, deserves a raise.  He not only continually has the opposition paranoid to run the ball against us, but he is also now being considered for Head Coaching  opportunites.  Frazier won't be the DCoordinator for the Purple for more than a season more.

Not sure if my followers have come across this tid bit of information, but per Siruis Satellite NFL Radio, Chilly is allegedly committing to a QB on staff for '09.  I own a novelty sports store that I closed on Sunday's to have a day off and so that I could pay attention to the Purple come the gridiron season.  I am now considering opening it up and becoming much more active in knowing my local Idaho hockey team.  While I will wear my Purple attire out of loyalty, I am not sure I can substantiate devoting 3 hours our of whatever day they might pla, just to be disappointed from one week to the next.  I am sorry, and while I don't mean to step on T-Jack when his son is having challenges, it is quite obvious, if we are being honest and objective, that he is not an NFL

There is breaking news amongst the website for the Federal Court system that the case for the Williams Wall might now be falling on deaf ears.  We all know the stories of how the NFL didn't disclose properly, however we also know how politics is spun behind the scenes no matter what business is involved.  With this news the only explanation possbile is the NFL has to be weaving it's web behind the scenes in the court system.  Whether we all think the players involved here are guilty or innocent they are also going up against the HUGE establishment known as the "National Football League."  Roger Goodell would have to take a huge bite of humble pie to now proclaim the innocence of the players once sentenced to suspensions.  We would all hope that the right
