Last nights win was an awesome thing!  Finally the offense showed up as much or maybe close to as much as the defense.  My fellow bloggers would probably take exception to that remark, maybe?  I will admit, when Chi-town made it 17-14 I was thinking, oh man!  not again!  But then the offense did me proud by answering pretty much right away.  After listening to some of the national media today also beginning to jump on that Purple bandwagon, I am still cautiously optimistic.  Gus Frerote while doing a good job at game management, some of the mistakes he has made are scary.  Now, I realize it's also easy for me to say that when I don't have those DT's breathing down my neck.  I guess us Purple fans will just have to take it one game at a time.  I am hoping and praying that my previous blog theory of playing to the level of our opponent doesn't kick in this next week.  I would love to be wrong there!  Also, on the A.P. front, I would like to see him fight less for more yards when he in fact has 8-9 guys piled on him and it's obvious to everyone except him that he isn't going to gain anymore yards on that attempt.  Did anyone notice the toll that took on him once we got to the 4th quarter?  they had to reach for fresh legs in C.T.  If I am right, I think RBs coach E.B. was already telling him this.  Well, it's on to Detroit, which should be a win...cuz the week after we have AZ in AZ and not sure that won't be a dogfight as well!

A massive state of concern should be in all of our "purple" pride filled hearts!  Unless Pat William's attempt in U.S. District Court is successful we vikes fans lose the Williams wall for the remainder of the regular season.  I think all of us that think in a logical sense know without the Williams wall the Vikes goose is cooked.  Now, I am sure most of us also saw some of the interviews on the national media outlets today when Fred Evans, Ellis Wyms and another today pronounced they are capable and ready to fill in the gap.  How many of us realize the high caliber the Williams brothers play at and the drop off that is coming with the back up Purple Crew?  I would LOVE to believe that there won't be a drop off and we will continue to stop the run and be ranked @ 2nd in the league in that respect.  Then reality and logic sets in and I begin to say my prayers.  Also, we all must notice as well the ability of Kevin Jones of the Lions and realize without the William's wall and a significant amount of Lions mistakes (which is possible!), the Lions are definitely looking at Sunday's game & wanting to post a win.  If one looks at their schedule, the Vikes unfortunately show the best opportunity for them with the 16-12 score of the last meeting in Mn.  I will do my best as I am sure all Purple Pride faithful will, to keep the faith for our team and provide that support.  Lastly, the biggest miracle that can happen would be for A.P. to get off for around 300 yards against the Lions.  That would keep the defense off the field at least.  I welcome thoughts.....:o)

I must 1st state that while I do bleed purple, I am not sure whether or not I buy what the Williams crew is selling?  I am their ultimate fan, but their approach to this diuretic situation smells just a bit.  The one thing that could redeem it in my eyes is if their court efforts show the NFL to have had some sort of conspiracy.  Otherwise, it's an effort to disguise and re-direct blame away from the individuals that should be accepting accountability.  Obviously I want to believe my Purple Crew and will until it is shown that guilty is as guilty does.  They are practicing now and if this isn't resolved tomorrow, they will also play against Detroit.  If they play in Detroit, the Lions goose is cooked!  I want it to be clear that I am pulling for a verdict

While the NFL now has a woeful team posting a 0-14 record (Detroit), it also has a team with Purple characteristics that is up and coming.  Jared Allen was also a key attribute to lighting a fire under our team when he was allegedly going after the rookie that "cut" him.  When Allen came out in the 2nd half with a bumb knee and still pulled off 2 more sacks (note to Marion Barber:  Jerry has a point, sir!), it is obvious to any objective Vikes fan that the team got a jolt from Allen's fiery mood.  Not only did that win bolster the Vikes stock through the league, but finally the Purple crew beat someone they were supposed to beat although they did make it more interesting than I would like.  (Thanks Gus for those two picks!).  All Vikes fans shou

Any Purple fan that remembers the past few years knows we have had to hold on to the cushion of our seat during the last 2-3 games?  Myself as well as many national media types believe that with the way the Purple have been playin on the road lately Arizona isn't a gimme for the Cardinals.  Actually, if the Vikes are able to keep the Williams Wall intact and have Jared continue to raise havoc with the QB, we stand a better than average chance of winning there.  Warner doesn't move well and is only lethal to secondary's if he has time.  The past 3 weeks our opponents QBs haven't had time (Thank you J.ALLEN).  Warner is specifically a pocket passer and when he gets outside the pocket, his stat's take a nose dive.  If anyone noticed how AZ performed in NY, the G-Men ran at will on them.  With the Purple's O-Line, A.P. should be able to get off against them.  I also think it was a blessing in disguise for Frerotte to get dinged up, because from a fan's perspective, he was starting to throw pick's a bit too consistently for my liking.

The latest updates provided indicate the valuable Jared Allen may not play tomorrow in AZ.  Although we all know his resiliency, it would be a major blow for him NOT to play.  His presence alone would make it so Warner wouldn't be able to sit back in that pocket and pick the Purple secondary apart.  In many fans and analysts estimation, if Warner is able to sit in the pocket with even good protection, it will be a long LONG day for the Purple's secondary.  If we can get any type of pass rush and make him move around and throw on the run, that is when Warner becomes simply an average player.  When allowed to sit in the pocket and throw he becomes a surgeon of secondaries.  J.Allen would make it utterly impossible for him to take his time.  It is

Per a press release earlier today via Off Coordinator Darrell Bevell, T-Jack will continue to start against the Atlanta Falcons.  Now, it is speculated that Senor Gus is healthy enough to play.  I think it is obvious to all of us loyal Purple fans that T-Jack has earned the chance to perform the way he has in the past two games for a 3rd.  If T-Jack can prove to be as consistent and effective moving forward, it is also believed that he just might be working his way BACK into the starting role.  For us Viking faithful, it will be perfect timing.  Now, let's take this a step further, "if" T-Jack is able to also come out of this weekend with a win, then it would be virtually impossible for the coaching brass to unseat him for Ole Gus.  Although he (Gus)

Now that the horrific game against the Falcons is behind us, let's reflect.  Score wise it wasn't horrific, however the 5 fumbles wasn't so nice to watch.  When a true fan such as myself and all of you other Purple lovers out there watch a game that had our offense penetrating DEEP into Atlanta's territory, then continually turning over the ball.  Not only that, but doing that at home!!  I do not live in Mn and was fortunate enough to have my local TV station carry the game and I thought the fans at "The Dome" were very gracious with how long they took to "booo" the Purple.  Also, it is very rare that I think Booing is warranted from a fan to their team.  However, it is obvious that in the ONE game that the Vikes needed to come out fired up for, they came out FLATTER than a warm beer!  It was also obvious, aside from CB Griffin and Jared Allen, that the team was flat and not really caring about the fan's concern with performance at home.

I thought I would write this blurb while watching the Purple in a dogfight with the G-Men.  I am eagerly awaiting some confirmation that the AZ win in all facets of the game wasn't just a aboration.  I will do my best to stay positive in this writing, however mistakes are killing us.  Right now, T-Jack has the opportunity to shut any critics up (including me!).  I am praying that he does.  I would love for him to step up.  They are going to A.P. so he doesn't have to make those smart decisions, which I can understand, however that also allows nerves to be rattled with A.P.'s tendenancy lately to lay the rock on the ground lately.  Now, with 25 seconds and the Purple driving there wasn't a sense of urgency to get closer for Longwell.  We had to burn our final timeout to stop the clock and make Longwell kick from much farther away than he should have had to.  Poor Longwell, having to make good in crunch time again.  .05 seconds to go and it's playoffs or......  The Vikes have won!  but boy did they make it interesting.....Go Purple!

While listening to some of the National Media types, it is obvious that most feel Brian Westbrook is going to run wild on the Purple Crew's defense.  I don't know that I buy that.  However, I do think that if the Purple shut down Westbrook, #5 is very capable of picking apart the Purple pass defense.  I think it is obvious that our only chance, should this scenario come to fruition, would be for our pass rush to come alive (as it has all season) and continually make #5 very uncomfortable.  I also don't think its enough to just make him feel uncomfortable, the Purple D need to make him eat some turf repeatedly, whether or not they get sacks.  Historically, that reduces #5's efficiency and effectiveness.

Also, there is a bone to pick with the crowd in these past two games.  Purple fan's everywhere, be on notice: IF YOU GO TO THE GAME AND HAVE LOWER TIER SEATS, DON'T BE A LAME BOOING FAN! Unless they are getting blown out.  Make it hard for the opposing team to function and don't give them the silence they would have as if they were in their home stadium?!!  Just a thought; against Hotlanta "The Dome" was deafening quiet, thus helping out the Falcons.  For GODSAKES people if you can't get up for the game to make some noise, drink a "5 hour energy drink" or something OR DON'T GO!  When this Sunday comes around, I expect to hear Vikingmania noise!
