Am I the only one who is disgusted by the little display Paul Pierce pulled during Game 1 of the NBA Finals? Honestly. Who needs to be carried off by organization members, "writhing in pain", only to return THREE minutes later, and basically turn the game around in favor of the Celtics?
Apparently, Paul Pierce. Oh, and now he's reporting that he won't have it looked at in detail until after the Finals. I guess it wasn't a big deal. But it WAS a big enough deal to carry him off like a fallen hero, only to have his come back and praised like Jesus. I understand they're trying to preserve themselves. I understand that. But acting and concern are two different things. Acting just leads to flopping, another pet peeve of mine.
And this isn't the only time flopping has gotten on my nerves. Basketball is turning into soccer, with players selling fouls and begging the officials for fouls. I for one am disgusted. What happened to the day when the game was decided on the skill of the players, and not on who was the best actor? I'm sure many of you have seen game 4 of the Lakers-Spurs matchup. All analysts could talk about the next few days was the fact that Barry should have "sold the foul better". What?! SOLD THE FOUL!? Acting should have no influence on the calls made or not made.
