The Arm is Healthy or Not So Much? posted by Coleman Dieger

Attn VIKING Faithful!!!  Up until now, Chilly has been talking in code when it comes to Favre.  But yesterday he said "  I have 1st hand knowledge Brett is throwing now with NO pain".  Fans, that means it's not a matter of IF, but WHEN Favre gets signed.  This FAN is not in favor of it, because any objective fan can already see it's dividing the locker room, however if Favre doesn't require a separate locker area it might be ok.  If this all blows up for Chilly and Spielman, bye bye gentlemen...Zigi won't stand for failure if this ends that way.....I think with Favre, the NFC Champsionshp game has to be an automatic expectation....Now the question is what media outlets are being honest and what one's are simply seeing what BS can stick with thrown to the Favre wall.  Until the next development.Continue reading "The Arm is Healthy or Not So Much?"

Retraction from Previous Blog Post posted by Coleman Dieger

Ok, in my last blog post I said Brett Favre can't happen, so Sage or T-Jack has to.  Well, i stand corrected.  I saw u-tube video today of Favre throwing and saying it felt "OK".  He also said "ok" isn't good enough.  We all know give him the time between now and Training Camp, it's going to be a Brett Favre's level of "ok".  I guess this Viking fan needs to be on the "if you can't beat 'em join 'em" bandwagon.  I don't necessarily like it, but we all also know it's going to happen.  Brett is noticably drooling over the opportunity he is presented with with the Vikes.  He has a chance here to do what Jerome Bettis and Michael Strahan did.  If he can manage it more power to him, but this Vikings fan has also got a lot of Packer backer friends and he will never be accepted back the way he was if he does this.  Ted Thompson, hide that hunting knife you keep around, cuz attempts to split your back are coming from #4.  Obviously that is part of this scenario.

Btw I have been writing on this blog for 6 months now, does anyone actually READ this stuff?

Welcome to the blog -- Favre a Viking? posted by Kevin Abbas

A little about me; I am a life long fan of all Minnesota Sports. Unfortunately, I am too young to fully appreciate the Twins victories in the late eighties early nineties, yet old enough to feel the Vikings pain of the late 90's. It seems Minnesota Sports have spiraled into complete mediocrity, unable to land any quality free-agents or draft quality players. In my blog I will attempt to bring a bit of humour and insight into the drab world which is Minnesota sports.  What better way to start than to discuss long time nemesis Brett Favre potentially becoming a member of the Vikings. I think as long as Favre is healthy, a big question mark at this point, he should be welcomed to Minnesota with open arms, provided he makes his decision before training camp. Favre has been his most effective when running the west coast offense. Media coverage of the Favre to Minnesota possibly has been particularly upsetting to me. On a recent episode of NFL Live, Mark Schlareth and Marcellus Wiley both ripped into Childress for his handling of the Favre situation. Schlareth went as far as to say 'it brings them from a Super Bowl Contender. to a Super Bowl Pretender'. For one, how we really a legit Super Bown Contender with T-Jack and Sage is questionable to begin with. How adding a sure HOF calibur quarterback to a team with a stud RB, decent receivers and a solid defense hurts the Vikes chances is beyond me. Apparently it is due to Childress 'losing the locker room' with talk of Favre. Really? The Vikings players would not welcome a Super Bowl champion quarterContinue reading "Welcome to the blog -- Favre a Viking?"

Favre and Minnesota posted by john howard

The best fit Minnesota could get now is Favre and a healthy arm. Even if his arm isn't 100%, if it is at least 70%, then they will improve. He provides tangibles and experience and can win.  With Favre as quarteback, they are at least a threat to pass, regardless of who the receivers are.  That is something they didn't have last year.  Adrian Peterson will still get his yards and Taylor will too.   And if Favre's arm is ok,  look out!

Brett Favre Should Find His Sofa Groove, The NFL Groove Is Gone! posted by Dustin

The Minnesota Vikings are sending representatives to check out Brett Favre.  Why, are we wasting more time pursuing this man?  He is a empty bucket with little incentive for the Vikings to follow.

He isn’t a great quarterback.  He is average and now injury-ridden.  It is up to Vikings management to make sure that the organization doesn’t pay a dime more than he worth.

His “fame” and name shouldn’t blind the Vikings to what is the real problem.  What Favre will show up to play for the Vikings? Will be be the 2007 Brett Favre that had a 13-3 season or will he be the disgruntled Brett Favre that left the Packers and Jets?

He has more questions than answers at this moment.  How is his shoulder, will he even be the type of person that people respect anymore? Does the blue collar plumber from northern Minnesota still identify with Brett Favre or has Brett become the type of pansy that even white collar men have lost respect for?

Those questions obviously are inflated and required a deep knowledge of the very important base of Minnesota sports but it should be asked.  What will the state of Minnesota think if Brett Favre has two horrible games in a row.  Throwing 4 interceptions and 1 touchdown.

Will Minnesota still give him the leash he is used too?  I do not believe that Minnesota is going to say, “Stay with BF!”  He isn’t the comeback kid anymore, now we have the Michael Vick prototype in Tavaris Jackson and the great pocket passer in John David Booty.

Who needs Brett Favre? The Minnesota Vikings, that's who! posted by Matthew McCabe

The country is getting more and more disgusted with each passing day as one of the NFL's greatest quarterbacks continues to make a mockery of his career by behaving like a spoiled diva. As if it weren't bad enough that we were subjected to endless speculation his last three seasons in Green Bay over whether he would or would not be in training camp, we now face year two of whether he will come out of retirement or stay out for good. Whether you loved Brett Favre throughout his career, or hated him, you cannot deny his place among the all time greats at his position.

Despite Favre's behavior over the past two years, he is still a viable option at quarterback. The fact of the matter is, if the Minnesota Vikings ever want to come with a breath of touching the Vince Lombardi Trophy in the foreseeable future they should get Brett Favre in camp ASAP and get him sleeping with a Vikings playbook. There are three simple reasons Minnesota needs to continue to pursue Brett Favre and pray he dons the purple and gold of the Vikings come September. I should preface all of this by saying this is assuming Favre's shoulder is healthy enough to play again.

Reason number one the Vikings should sign Brett Favre is the fact that Minnesota has a once in a lifetime combination of playmakers to surround him with and make a legitimate run at the Super Bowl. Minnesota's offense has explosive potential all around. Sydney Rice and Bernard Berrian at WR can change a game in minutes and I don’t need to really go in depth on how quickly Adrian Peterson can change a game. If those guys weren't enough, the Vikings drafted Percy Harvin from Florida who had a wildly successful collegiate career as an explosive game changer. The Vikings defense isn't without its talent with Jared Allen, Pat Williams, Kevin Williams, EJ Henderson, and Chad Greenway anchoring a defense that most teams don't even bother trying to run against.

Brett, Go Far, Favre Away.... posted by Daniel Doyle

I am not sure it is possible, but Brett Favre needs to find the most desolate place in Mississippi and hide. Although I believe he is already past this stage, he needs to read Damage Control for Dummies. It will be an awful long time before I can say the name Brett Favre without a sour taste being left behind.

Favre played the game with such a youthful exuberance, that many people were completely sold on this fun-loving quarterback. His toothy smile appeared pasted on his face, in the middle of his 5 o’clock shadow. When things were going good for Favre, he was a happy go lucky guy. However, when you see a guy go through a little adversity, his true colors are exposed. Let’s face it, Favre has many more dull colors in what we all thought was a bright personality.

It is actually quite difficult to blame Favre. He is no different than a majority of other athletes that have had great success. Perhaps Favre duped us though. His “good-guy” appeal set everyone up for a great disappointment. He has simply followed a pattern that guys such as Terrell Owens, Roger Clemens, and Manny Ramirez had already set. Owens found a way to incorporate his not getting enough balls thrown his way into every loss in his career, dragging three quarterbacks down with him. Clemens would not sign with Houston unless they agreed to allow him to skip road trips in which he was not scheduled to pitch to stay home with his family. Manny’s list is too long to go through, but his general lack of hustle when he was upset stands out the most. Not to be forgotten was Manny’s shoving of a Red Sox employee when he was refused to be given an exorbitant amount of tickets for a game. Favre’s immaturity and selfishness stands out from any of the three aforementioned players.

Brett Favre -- Green Bay & America's Favorite Washed-Up Lovable Loser posted by Dustin

Today wasn’t anything particularly special.  I woke up at 8:00a.m., a full hour after my alarm went off, not awesome.  Turned on the TV to see more Brett Favre.  His face, his grizzle and red jersey.  It seems that all the footage of Brett playing in Packer colors has been wiped off the face of the earth.

ESPN only shows his New York Jets attire.  Which is accurate of Brett Favre but, I don’t like or respect Favre because of his last outing in the NFL.  I respect him because of his years in Green Bay.  The city of Green Bay that without Football, would be valued at about 25 cents.  Brett Favre though makes that city something of an icon.  An icon for what America could turn into if we follow tired and old tactics.

Brett didn’t lead the Packers to one Superbowl in his last decade with the team.  He hardly had them competing for a few years.  Once and awhile yes, his team would be amazing, spectacular and regarded as an elite team.  Then people would start asking, do you think the Packers can make it this year?  Brett’s still got some left, don’t cha think?

No, here is the truth: Brett Favre isn’t going to win a Superbowl again, ever.  He isn’t equipped mentally or physically.  The game has changed around Brett.  He forced the game to change.  Defenses had to be faster, smarter and more aggressive.  If he was the best player for years and years it seemed the analysts knew why.  He was erratic never playing the same type of game.

Is it T-Jack or SRose, cuz Favre can't happen posted by Coleman Dieger

I think we all can admit here that the QB competition has to be between the two we have in house now.  There have been too many current Vikes players that have dropped hints thru the media saying "if we are going to get Brett, he needs to committ and get in here, or not and stay retired, but whichever way, get it done and over with."  There have been a handful of Vikes players saying a message similar to that.  It would be a disruption for Favre to come out of retirement, but not report to the team til August like he did with the Jets, but Chilly and Co CANNOT allow that.  It would disrupt team chemistry and allow for doubt in the structured atmosphere the Vikes have put in place up til now.  Honestly, Chilly needs to move on from Favre.....by the way he answeres Favre questions we can all tell there is still somthing going on there, just have just plugged their leaks, that is why we are not hearing anything, which is good anyhow.  I say T-Jack or SRose is it.....one of them needs to succeed...NFL circle analysts say SRose has the aptitude to read defenses better and should get the nod, but T-Jack's overall athleticism is what Chilly is going to choose.  T-Jack just doesn't have it at crunch time when the pressure is on and I would LOVE to be shown I am wrong here....so I look forward to that.....Either way let's get it on with what we have and rock the Viking Nation once again!Continue reading "Is it T-Jack or SRose, cuz Favre can't happen"

Brett Favre "Mr. Self-Destructive" Leaving His Teams Floundering From His Fear posted by Dustin

Does anyone believe the Minnesota Vikings wouldn't be better with Brett Favre?  Of course some do but I don't, his pre-madonna motivation to reign the Vikings to a Superbowl simply to spite his former GM is going to carry him far enough.  That type of attitude isn't for the Vikings.  We need a team made of selfless leaders and selfish role players.  Our Quarterback Tavaris Jackson needs to simply develop himself as a passer, stop trying to be a runner, and become a leader.  Our wide receivers need to stop being scared and get hungry.  The fear of being hit isn't enough for them to run fast, the motivation should be the touchdown.  The end zone dance should be their highlight.

No questions should be asked of Adrian Peterson, he's the quintessential Vikings player if we are focused on winning a championship.  He will ignite our team by his humble legs and polite footwork.  He won't crush opponents unless you are trying to crush him and he'll dodge, deke, and discomfort by making you looking stupid, when possible.  We don't ask for a team of winners all the time but when the game is on the line we expect there to be a decision made that keeps the team churning.

Brett Favre doesn't do that, he loses his cool, the nerve of Johnny B Good doesn't hold up when the wind is whipping and the linebackers are grunting.  He is afraid of the hit, the stress, even his own mind will fail him.  His arm hasn't given up but his mind is self-destructive.  Look at his attempt to retire, he doesn't know what to do so he spends more time in limbo.  The limbo prevents him from being the great player he used to be, he is choked up with fear of being great again.  He is made to be the mid-level winner.
